Honestly, nothing spectacular this time around.
If you really want to upgrade, upgrade but, I’d rather wait for next year or even switch.
IOS is quite unstable lately and I don’t really like losing my contacts without warning or my phone stalling and rebooting for no good reason.
So, what’s new?
Apple reduced pricing for the new iPhone 11, not rediculously high like last year.
They’ve also cut prices on the iPhone Xr and the iPhone 8.
There are two models. The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max. Now, I’m just waiting for the new iPhone 11 Pro Max Extreme Plus, or something silly like that. Seriously though, what’s with the stupid naming convention?
The new A13 Bionic chip, which is capable of performing up to one trillion operations per second and includes the latest-generation Apple machine-learning technology, will be packed in both the new iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The chip uses a 7nm manufacturing process, only because they couldn’t design a 5nm, and includes over 8.5 billion transistors, with all of its cores being up to 20% faster than the A12 Bionic – while also being more power-efficient.
It won’t make a big difference in my life, to be honest. Apart from saving some battery life, it translates into nothing practical. At least your phone will crash quicker. Nice to know.
The iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8 inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.5 inch screen.
Both will come with iOS 13, FaceID, IP68 rating, lightning ports, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, A13 Bionic processor, 3 12MP cameras at the rear and 1 12MP camera in the front.
Storage options includes 64, 256 and 512GB. No SD card slot.
The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will be available from 27 September in South Africa.
I am not upgrading this time around.
